The problem of the static deformation of a multilayered half-spаcе due to strip loading is studied. The transfer matrix approach is used to find the deformation field at any point of the medium. Both plane strain and antiplane strain cases are discussed in detail. Explicit expression for the displacements and stresses in a uniform half-space and a layer over a half-space are derived. The results for a normal line load and shear line load are obtained as a particular case. The present formulation is simple and is quite convenient for numerical computation.
