Prof. B.K. Maheshwari, Life Fellow, Former Secretary, Former Editor & Vice President of the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology (ISET), and Professor, Department of Earthquake Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee has instituted a 4-yearly “ISET B.K. Maheshwari Research Award for Best Ph.D Thesis in Soil-Structure Interaction in India” to honour person with Best Ph.D Thesis. The award consists of an award money of INR 11,000/-, and a Citation. This award was instituted on July 21, 2010.

Dr. Ramon Varghese holds a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from the T.K.M College of Engineering, University of Kerala, and an M.Tech degree in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering from the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras in the year 2020. He continued at IIT Madras as a Senior Project Officer, before joining the University College Dublin, Ireland, as a post-doctoral researcher. Dr. Varghese has co-authored research articles published in 5 international journals and 10 international and national conferences. His research focusses on soil-structure interaction problems. He is a life member of the Indian Geotechnical Society.
Dr. Syed Nurussyidyn Madani obtained his B.E. in civil engineering from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara in the year 2006. In the year 2009, he completed M. Tech. in Earthquake Engineering (Soil Dynamics) from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. He then obtained his PhD from the Department of Earthquake Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in the year 2015. Dr. N. M. Syed has been teaching since the last 4 years. Dr. N. M. Syed has co-authored research/ technical papers in 4 international journals and 10 international and national conferences. He is a Life Member of the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology.
Dr. Pavan Kumar Emani obtained his B. Tech. in civil engineering from Nagarjuna University of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2001. Dr. Emani has worked as a Scientific Officer/ Design Engineer in BARC till 2005. In the year 2009, he completed Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. Dr. Emani has been teaching both under-graduate and post-graduate students of civil engineering since the last 6 years. Presently, Dr. Emani is working as a Professor at the Graphic Era University, Dehradun. Dr. Emani has co-authored research/ technical papers in 5 international journals and 13 international and national conferences. Dr. Emani received the Homi Bhabha Award during his training period in BARC. Dr. Emani is a Life Member of the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology. He received the Young Scientist Award for working on the seismic design of pile foundations under inelastic conditions from the Department of Science and Technology. Recently, he received grant of Rs. 24.3 lakhs from the Department of Atomic Energy for working on liquefaction behavior of large pile foundations.
Dr. Rajib Sarkar obtained his B.E. in civil engineering from Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, Jalpaiguri in the year 2002. He received his M.Tech. in Soil Dynamics and Ph.D. degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in the years 2006 and 2009, respectively. Dr. Sarkar has worked as an Assistant Engineer at Consulting Engineering (2002-2004) and Deputy Manager at Lahmeyer International India Pvt. Ltd. (2009-2013). Dr. Sarkar has worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow at University of Bristol, U.K. (2012-2013). Presently, Dr. Sarkar is working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Civil Engineering, MNIT, Jaipur. Dr. Sarkar has co-authored research/ technical papers in 5 international journals and 10 international and national conferences. Dr. Sarkar is a Life Member of the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology (ISET). Dr. Sarkar has received EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, U.K.) fellowship for post-doctoral research in University of Bristol, U.K. Dr. Sarkar received Gold medal in Bachelor of Civil Engineering, University of North Bengal.
